Cel-Vinyl™ Tints Cel-Vinyl™ Colors are also supplied in a complete range of 646 high chrome, evenly graduated TINTS (let-downs) which correspond in values to our Cel-Vinyl GRAY Scale. These CEL-VINYL COLOR TINTS are obtained by adding white to CEL-VINYL base colors. Each CEL-VINYL COLOR TINT and group of TINTS is carefully, painstakingly produced. All color TINT values are tested, and their accuracy and consistency maintained by our diligent use of the Spectrophotometer. All CEL-VINYL COLOR TINTS are “let-downs” made from the base colors. A few words of caution: placing multiple cels over a color not only darkens it in value but additionally reduces its chrome (saturation or intensity) to some degree, depending upon the chemical composition of the type of cels used. For that reason, even though the value of the color “reads” correctly, you may want to adjust the top level by graying it slightly. Or, when it is possible, you may prefer to add to the chrome of the bottom levels. If bright colors are chosen they should retain most of their intensity and brightness in spite of these minor adjustments. A grayed tint on the bottom level must be the brightest and lightest. The higher the intensity of color on the bottom level, the less grayed the top level must be. All of this is important if you wish to have brilliant, high chrome colors on your characters.
